# Adding a Backup Device

We strongly recommend you export your account in Google Authenticator to a backup device. This ensures that if you lose access to your main device, you still can get authentication codes to log in. Your main device is usually your phone and your backup device can be another phone or a tablet.

This tutorial explains how to add a backup device if you enabled two-factor authentication using **Google Authenticator**.

If you used another authenticator app, the process will be slightly different.

---

1. Download **Google Authenticator** on your [iOS](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-authenticator/id388497605) or [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2) backup device.
2. Open Google Authenticator on your main device.
3. Tap the three dots in the top right corner of your screen.
4. Tap **Export accounts**.
5. Tap **Continue**.

A QR code appears on screen.

1. Open Google Authenticator on your backup device and tap **Get Started**.
2. Tap **Scan a QR code**.
3. Point the camera of your backup device at the QR code displayed on your main device.
4. Tap **OK** on your backup device.
5. Tap **Finished** on your main device.

---

You've exported your account to your backup device. You can now use the codes generated on either devices when logging in to the Admin Panel.

If you can't log in to your Nexudus account and lost access to both your main and backup device, get in touch with our support team at [support@nexudus.com](http://mailto:support@nexudus.com) to reset two-factor authentication in your account.
