# Using Xero as a Payment Method

Our accounting integration with Xero also lets your customers pay their invoices on your {{variable.MembersPortal}} and the {{variable.Passport}} or its white-label equivalent using a payment provider set up in your {{variable.Xero}} account.

### Step 1. Setting up a payment service in your {{variable.Xero}} account
You need at least one payment service fully set up in your {{variable.Xero}} account to use allow customers to pay for their invoices using {{variable.Xero}}. Payment services are just payment providers that you can connect to {{variable.Xero}}.

If you haven't set up a payment service in your {{variable.Xero}} account, we recommend you follow {{variable.Xero}}'s tutorial on how to [Set up payment service with {{variable.Xero}}](https://central.xero.com/s/article/About-payment-services){target="_blank"}.

You can pick any of the payment services supported by {{variable.Xero}} and set up more than one in your account. Once you have your payment service set up in {{variable.Xero}}, all you need to do is make sure your {{variable.Xero}} integration is enabled and set up correctly.

:::(Info) (Managing multiple locations in {{variable.Nexudus}} using different {{variable.Xero}} organizations?)
Make sure that you set up your payment service in the correct {{variable.Xero}} organization connected to the relevant {{variable.Nexudus}} location.

### Step 2. Check your {{variable.Xero}} integration on the {{variable.AdminPanel}}
If you haven't enabled the {{variable.Xero}} integration yet, we recommend you follow our [Integrating {{variable.Xero}}](/v3/docs/integrating-xero){target="_blank"} instructions before going through the steps below.

1. {{snippet.FirstStepProcedure}}
2. {{snippet.Xero_Path}}
3. Make sure the **Show links to pay invoices via {{variable.Xero}} in your {{variable.MembersPortal}}** toggle is enabled.

6. {{snippet.Save_Changes}}

All done! We recommend you test your setup by issuing an invoice for a dummy customer before trying to pay that invoice using the {{variable.Xero}} payment service on the {{variable.MembersPortal}}.

Your {{variable.Xero}} payment service should appear as the **Pay** option in any customer's account on the {{variable.MembersPortal}}.

:::(Warning) (Using GoCardless or any other direct debit as your payment service?)
Remember that the invoice won't show up as paid in {{variable.Nexudus}} until the direct debit mandate is approved and the payment fully processed.

## FAQ

### Do {{variable.Xero}} payment services support automatic invoice payment?
It all depends on the payment service you use and whether or not {{variable.Xero}} support recurring or automated payment for that payment service.
We recommend you reach out to {{variable.Xero}}'s support to find out whether or not automated payments can work with your payment service in {{variable.Xero}}.

### Does my payment service in {{variable.Xero}} have to be one of the payment methods that {{variable.Nexudus}} supports?
No, you can connect any payment service that {{variable.Xero}} supports, even if it isn't a payment method supported by {{variable.Nexudus}}.

### Can I have multiple payment services enabled in {{variable.Xero}}?
Yes, you can have multiple payment services set up in your {{variable.Xero}} account. Customers will be able to pick one of them as they go through the checkout process.

### Can I change the name of my {{variable.Xero}} payment service on the {{variable.MembersPortal}}?
