# Bookings on Members Portal 5

## What are bookings?
The **Bookings** section lets {{variable.customers}} reserve {{variable.resources}} in your space. {{variable.Customers_CAP}} can also customize their {{variable.bookings}} by inviting **guests** and **adding {{variable.products}}**.

:::(Info) (You can customize the appearance of your Bookings section using the Editor.)
:::

## How do bookings work?
You can make any {{variable.resources}} in your space available on the {{variable.MembersPortal}} for {{variable.customers}} to book.

{{variable.Customers_CAP}} have several ways to book on the {{variable.MembersPortal}}.

* **Standard bookings** let {{variable.customers}} choose {{variable.resources}} from **four different views**, letting them easily choose the {{variable.resource}} that best suits their needs.
* **AI-Assisted bookings** let {{variable.customers}} ask our friendly chatbot to quickly draft a {{variable.booking}} on their behalf.

You can also enable **guest {{variable.bookings}}** to let users make {{variable.bookings}} in your space without the hassle of creating an account.

{{variable.Customers_CAP}} with an account can enable **predicted bookings** to get suggested {{variable.bookings}} right on their dashboard. They can also manage their {{variable.bookings}} directly from the {{variable.MembersPortal}}.

The Bookings section is available on the {{variable.MembersPortal}} by default. You can't disable the Bookings section, but you can define which {{variable.customers}} have access. You'll also need to customize other {{variable.booking}} settings.

## Setting up bookings
:::(Warning) (Migrating from Version 4?)
We recommend treating these steps as an **audit** for your space. You can also make sure you're taking advantage of all the **new features** added in Version 5
:::

To set up the Bookings section, you'll need to **decide which {{variable.customer}} groups have access**. You'll also need to **define certain settings** such as:
* when {{variable.customers}} pay for {{variable.bookings}}
* whether {{variable.booking}} requests need {{variable.admin}} approval
* what notifications {{variable.customers}} receive about their {{variable.bookings}}.

Once you've defined your settings, you can **make {{variable.resources}} available on the {{variable.MembersPortal}}**.
