# Deleting Merge Fields

If you added a dynamic field by mistake, you cannot delete it like standard text with the backspace key of your keyboard.

          Your edits to the template don't affect documents that were already generated.

1. Log in to [dashboard.nexudus.com](https://dashboard.nexudus.com/) if you aren't already.
2. Click [**CRM > Document templates**](https://dashboard.nexudus.com/crm/documentTemplates).
3. Click the document template you want to edit.
4. Click the **Launch editor** button.

*The template editor opens in another browser tab. Your document can take a few seconds to load.*

1. Click on the dynamic field you want to remove from your document template.
2. Click on the **Data** tab.
3. Click **Delete Field**.

*Repeat steps 5, 6, and 7 for any other dynamic field you want to delete.*

1. Click on the **File** tab once you've removed all the relevant fields
2. Click the **Save** button.

You can now close the editor tab and use your document template.
