General Notifications
A notification is sent to all customers who are part of at least one thread at 8 AM every day. This notification is called the daily digest and includes their threads with any new conversations created since the last notification.
Anyone with access to a new thread can:
- Like it
This action doesn't trigger any notification.
- Follow it
This action will let them receive notifications for every new reply to the thread.
- Mute it
This action prevents them from receiving notifications about the thread, even if someone mentions them in a reply.
Mentioned Customers
Any customer who was (@) mentioned in a message gets a push notification from the Passport app (if they use it) and via email.
Anyone who enabled Receive every message in their notification settings also gets a similar notification every time a message is posted to one of the threads they can access.
Anyone else receives direct message replies. Each thread can have any number of replies. Replies can also mention other people to bring them into the conversation.
When someone replies to a thread, the following happens:
- Anyone viewing that thread gets those messages delivered instantly.
- About 30 seconds after the last reply was posted on the thread, the poster and everyone following that thread get a summary of the recent conversation via email.
- The people involved in the thread receive a push notification from the Passport app if they have it installed on their phones.
If anyone was mentioned in the reply, that person automatically starts following the thread and will start to get these notifications unless they mute the thread.
