Editing Translation Tokens

Prev Next

Nexudus provides a default translation for your Members Portal in the following languages:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • Polish (only available in version 5 and above)
  • Portuguese
  • French
  • German
  • Italian

You can edit the default translation of your Members Portal to fit your space's tone of voice, branding or local language specificities.

Why edit translation tokens

  • To change default text displayed
For example, you use a specific terminology as part of your branding and want to use specific words in your main language.
  • To change text you added to page blocks
For example, you created custom pages or added text to blocks on your portal and want to make them available in other languages your customers use.
Using the white-label version of the Passport app, NexKiosk,NexIO, NexEvents NexBoard, NexDelivery?

You can tweak the language on the app with language tokens as well!

Step 1. Listing the elements you want to translate

The first step of the translation process is to list all the elements you want to edit on your Members Portal. The Members Portal code is built using tokens that lets your users see the same page in multiple languages.

Tokens are Name + Value pairs. Name is what the text is known as in the code and Value determines what is shown to the user on the page.

The vast majority of tokens are an identical match between their name and the value shown on screen, which is designed to help you change text and translations easily, but some of them have a different name.

We've listed below tokens that have a Name that doesn't match what their Value is on the Members Portal.

For example, coworker.FullName is the field name in the code and Full name is the name of the fields customers are asked to fill out on your Members Portal in English. If you wanted to change that to Legal name, you'd need to create a new token with coworker.FullName as the new token name and Legal name as its value to override the default.

Sign-up form fields

coworker.CountryId and coworker.BillingCountryId both display as "Country" by default but are separate fields.

Override both if you want the change to apply to the billing section as well.

Validation messages

Rewording a validation message only changes the text displayed, not the rule behind it.

For example, if you reword "Password must be at least 8 characters" to "Password must be over 8 characters and include at least one number and special character", the validation performed remains limited to checking whether or not the password is over 8 characters.

Once you have a list of all the text elements, you want to move to the second step of the process.

Step 2. Editing your language tokens

Now that you have collected your tokens, you can replace the existing tokens by adding new ones with the same name.

  1. Log in to dashboard.nexudus.com if you aren't already.

  2. Click on the relevant language.

  3. Click on the Tokens tab.

  4. Click Add token.

  5. Add the name of the first token you copied in the previous step in the Name field.

  6. Add the translation you want to see on the Members Portal in the Value field.

  7. Click the Save Changes button.

Repeat the process for every other token you have. Once you've translated all the selected tokens, head over to your Members Portal and check that the translation is displayed as you intended.

You can easily track your custom translations from any of the language records on the Admin Panel. If you don't have any translation for a language the Tokens tab is empty.

Once you add your own translation for specific tokens, the tokens will appear in the Tokens tab of the relevant language.
