Floor plan units represent specific areas or rooms on your floor plans. Each floor plan unit usually matches a resource that customers can book or an area in your space assigned to a customer through a contract. *For example, you could have eight hot-desk floor plan units connected to the same hot-desk resource. Or you could assign an office floor plan unit to a customer with a private office plan.* There are five floor plan unit types you can choose from, depending on what the unit represents on your floor plan: - **Office** This unit is suitable for any type of office in your space. - **Dedicated desk** This unit is suitable for any desk that you assign to contracts. - **Hot-desk** This unit is suitable for any hot-desk that you assign to contracts or that can be booked through a resource. You can connect hot-desks to more than one contract. - **Room** This unit is suitable for any type of room that you make available to customers. - **Other** This unit is suitable for rooms or areas that don't match any other floor plan unit type. ## How Floor Plan Units Work Once you've [added a floor plan](/v3/docs/creating-floor-plans), you can [add](/v3/docs/adding-floor-plan-items) and [edit floor plan units](/v3/docs/editing-floor-plan-items). You can [assign floor plan units to contracts](/v3/docs/assigning-floor-plan-items-to-contracts) to track a unit's occupancy and availability. You can see assigned floor plan units via the **Contracts** tab of a floor plan. You can [include floor plan units in proposals](/v3/docs/including-floor-plan-items-in-proposals), and when the customer accepts the proposal it will be assigned to them via their contract. You can see floor plan units included in proposals via the **Proposals** tab of a floor plan. You can [connect floor plan units to resources](/v3/docs/connecting-floor-plan-items-to-resources) to let customers book them via the floor plan view on the Members Portal. You can view bookings for floor plan units via the **Bookings** tab of a floor plan.
