# Floor Plans

## What are {{variable.FloorPlans_CAPS}}?
{{variable.FloorPlans_CAP}} are visual representations of different floors in your space.

They let your {{variable.admins}} and {{variable.customers}} alike get an overview of each floor's layout with its different rooms and areas.

## How {{variable.FloorPlans_CAPS}} work
{{variable.FloorPlans_CAP}} work with two components: the **{{variable.floorplan}}** itself and **{{variable.floorplanitems}}**.

You first need to [create a {{variable.floorplan}}](https://help.nexudus.com//v3/docs/adding-floor-plans){target="_blank"},[ add a tracing image](/docs/adding-a-tracing-image){target=`_blank`} and [add your main building components](/docs/adding-building-components){target=`_blank`}. If your space has more than one floor, you'll need to create one {{variable.floorplan}} per floor.

Once your floor plans are drawn, you can start [adding **floor plan units**](https://help.nexudus.com//v3/docs/managing-floor-plan-items){target="_blank"} to them. Each {{variable.floorplanitem}} represents a specific area of your space.
