# Forte

## What is {{variable.Forte}}?
{{variable.Forte}} is a card payment gateway available to spaces located in the **United States** and **Canada**. 
It lets your customers pay for their invoices using credit or debit cards as a one-off or automatically every time you issue an invoice for them if they accept to keep their card details on file. 

## Enabling {{variable.Forte}}

You need the following details to enable {{variable.Forte}} in your account: 

* **Account**
* **API Key**
* **Location**
* **Secret**

You can find all these details in your {{variable.Forte}} account. If you're unsure about where to find them, reach out to {{variable.Forte}}'s support or sales team. Once you have your details ready, you can enable {{variable.Forte}} in just a few clicks on the {{variable.AdminPanel}}.

You need to repeat the integration process in each location where you want to use {{variable.Forte}}.

3. Click on **{{variable.Forte}}**. 
4. Select your location in the **Owned by** {{variable.dropdownlist}}. 

5. Define your **Payment option name**.

6. Define a **Transaction fee** if you'd like to charge customers for using this payment method. 
:::(Warning) (Make sure you comply with your local laws and regulations on transaction fees. )
Most European countries, including the United Kingdom, do not allow businesses to charge customers choosing to pay through a specific card payment option.

7. Add your {{variable.Forte}} Account, API Key, Location, and Secret details in the relevant fields.
