# Late Cancellation Fees

## What are {{variable.LateCancellationFees}}? 
{{variable.LateCancellationFees_CAP}} are fees you can automatically charge customers when they cancel their bookings at the last minute. This charge can be a percentage of their booking's total price or a flat fee. 

*For example, you can charge 50% of the booking's price or $200 if customers cancel their booking for conference rooms less than 72 hours in advance.* 

You can have a single cancellation fee that applies to all {{variable.bookings}} or multiple late cancellation fees based on {{variable.customer}} group, when the cancellation is made, or the {{variable.booking}}'s total price. 

{{variable.LateCancellationFees_CAP}} are a great way to let customers cancel their bookings last minute while also accounting for the potential revenue loss it represents for your space.

## How {{variable.LateCancellationFees}} work

You can set up cancellation fees for {{variable.resources}} in two simple steps:

2. **Add {{variable.LateCancellationFees}} to the relevant resources customers can book**

You can add booking cancellation fees to any of your resources in one of two ways:

This option is ideal if you want to: 

* **Charge all customers the same fee when they cancel at the last minute**
* **Have the same cut-off time for all customers**

### [Multiple {{variable.LateCancellationFees}}](/v3/docs/adding-multiple-booking-cancellation-fees){target=`_blank`} 

This option is ideal if you want to: 

* **Charge different fees based on whether customers are contacts, members, or members on specific plans**
* **Apply different fees based on when the {{variable.booking}} cancellation is made**
* **Apply different fees based on the total {{variable.booking}} price**

*For example, you can charge a 25% cancellation fee if the {{variable.booking}} price is under {{variable.DollarSign}}200 and 50% if it's {{variable.DollarSign}}200 or more.*

### Can I have a single {{variable.LateCancellationFee}} for one resource and multiple ones for another resource? 
Yes, different resources can have different {{variable.LateCancellationFees}}.
