# Adding Custom Fields

You can add custom fields from the **CRM** section of the Admin Panel.

          Creating your publishable custom fields in your **network** location  if you manage more than one.

          

## Public Custom Fields

1. Log in to [dashboard.nexudus.com](https://dashboard.nexudus.com/) if you aren't already.
2. Click **CRM > Custom Fields**.
3. Click **Add custom field**.
4. Add a **Field name**.

*If you want this custom field to answer a question, the name of the field should be your question.*

1. Select **Customer (publishable)** as your **Record type**.
2. Select a **Field data type** based on the information you want to collect.
3. Select an option in the **Show field in** column based on where you want to add this field.
4. Click on the **Visibility** tab.
5. Enable the relevant toggles in **Profile & sign-up forms** based on the forms that should include this field and whether or not you want the field to be required.

*Leave all toggles disabled if you don't want to include this field in any form.*

1. Click the **Save Changes** button.

You can leave your custom fields in the nameless default section or [add your own custom field groups](/v3/docs/creating-custom-field-categories).

## Internal Custom Fields

1. Log in to [dashboard.nexudus.com](https://dashboard.nexudus.com/) if you aren't already.
2. Click **CRM > Custom Fields**.
3. Click **Add custom field**.
4. Add a **Field name**.

*If you want this custom field to answer a question, the name of the field should be your question.*

1. Select one of the following options as your **Record type**.

- *Bookings*
- *Contracts*
- *CRM opportunities*
- *Customers (internal)*
- *Equipment*
- *Floor plans*
- *Floor plan items*
- *Help desk departments*
- *Help desk messages*
- *Invoices*
- *Locations*
- *Plans*
- *Products*
- *Proposals*
- *Resources*
- *Teams*
- *Visitors*

1. Select a **Field data type** based on the information you want to collect.
2. Click the **Save Changes** button.

You can leave your custom fields in the nameless default section or [add your own custom field groups](/v3/docs/creating-custom-field-categories).

## Field Data Types

The available field types are detailed below.

### Date

This field lets you select a date from a pop-up calendar.

If the field is a public custom field, customers can also select or edit it on the Members Portal.

### Decimal number

This field lets you add any decimal number such as *10.36* or *1520.236*.

If the field is a public custom field, customers can also select or edit it on the Members Portal.

### Multiple line text

This field lets you add multiple lines of text.

If the field is a public custom field, customers can also select or edit it on the Members Portal.

### Options menu

This field lets you select one or multiple options that you've defined.

If the field is a public custom field, customers can also select or edit it on the Members Portal.

### Single line text

This field type lets you add a single line of text.

If the field is a public custom field, customers can also select or edit it on the Members Portal.

### Whole number

This field lets you add any whole number such as *165* or *152020256*.

If the field is a public custom field, customers can also select or edit it on the Members Portal.

### Yes/No

This field lets you select **Yes** or **No** as a field value.

If the field is a public custom field, customers can also select or edit it on the Members Portal.
