# Resource Types

##
## What are {{variable.ResourceTypes_CAPS}}?

{{variable.ResourceTypes_CAP}} are a required field for all the bookable {{variable.resources}} in your inventory. {{variable.ResourceTypes_CAP}} let you apply the same prices to all {{variable.resources}} sharing the same type. {{variable.ResourceTypes_CAP}} act as pricing templates that you can edit and expand through each {{variable.resource}}'s {{variable.Rates_Tab}}.

:::(warning) ({{variable.ResourceTypes_CAP}} are **not** [{{variable.resourcecategories}}](https://help.nexudus.com//v3/docs/resource-categories){target="_blank"}.)
{{variable.ResourceTypes_CAP}} are required fields that affect pricing while {{variable.resourcecategories}} are a optional fields that affect the display order of your {{variable.resources}} on the {{variable.MembersPortal}}.
:::

## How {{variable.ResourceTypes_CAPS}} Work

If you use one of our {{variable.resource}} templates to create your {{variable.resources}}, we automatically create a matching {{variable.resourcetype}} as you create the {{variable.resource}}.

![image.png](https://cdn.document360.io/4f9a66c7-3dbb-4052-97d8-5439302e1512/Images/Documentation/image%28603%29.png){height="" width=""}

You can then add more prices from the {{variable.resource}}'s {{variable.Rates_Tab}}.

:::(Info) (All the rates added to a {{variable.resource}} are also automatically added to any other {{variable.resource}} assigned the same {{variable.resourcetype}}.)
*For example, if you create multiple hot desk banks using our template, each bank will have its own {{variable.resourcetype}}. You can choose to have an individual {{variable.resourcetype}} for each bank or assign one of the types to all of them, depending on how you want to manage your pricing.*
:::

If you create a {{variable.resource}} from scratch using the **Manual entry** option, you need to [create a resource type](https://help.nexudus.com//v3/docs/adding-resource-types){target="_blank"} **before** creating the {{variable.resource}} itself. Naming your {{variable.resourcetypes}} after your {{variable.resources}} makes it easier to match them once you start creating your {{variable.resources}}.

## {{variable.ResourceTypes_CAPS}} & Credits

If you want {{variable.customers}} to pay for bookings using {{variable.timecredits}}, you should create [{{variable.timecredittypes}}](/v3/docs/time-credits){target="_blank"} that include the relevant {{variable.resourcetypes}} to let Nexudus apply the relevant credit-based pricing.
