Migrating to the latest version of Passport (White-label)

Prev Next

The new White-label Passport app is here! The new version starts rolling out on 14 September 2026 and will arrive in the App store and Google Play Store over the following weeks.

This update aligns the White-label app experience with the latest Members Portal version. If you haven't migrated to Members Portal 5 yet, you'll still get the updated version of the app so you can take advantage of all the new features.

All you need to do is accept your Apple licensing agreement. If you have any outstanding issues on your account, you'll also need to resolve these before your app can be updated.

Not sure if your space is using the White-label version of the Passport app?

You can determine whether your space uses standard or White-label Passport by checking the app icon on your phone.

Standard Passport's icon is an orange box with a capital P.

White-label Passport has a custom icon, usually your company's logo.

What's new in Passport Version 5

The new Passport app includes new features and improvements including:

  • an e-commerce buying experience
  • faster bookings and payments
  • AI assistance for bookings and common questions
  • self-service payment management
  • push notifications and quick actions

What doesn't change?
Your customers don't have to worry about losing or updating any information. Everything that matters most to them stays the same, including:

  • Accounts and logins, including SSO
  • Existing bookings, benefits, and contracts
  • Stored payment details
  • Access control integrations

What to do before September 14th

Required

  • Accept your Apple licensing agreement
All Program Licensing Agreements (PLAs) must be accepted in your Apple Developer Account before we can update your app. You'll also need to resolve any outstanding issues.

Your account owner will receive an email notification prompting you to accept the agreement. You can also accept the agreement by logging in to your App Store Connect portal.
Only your account owner can accept PLAs and resolve outstanding issues.

Account admins won't be able to view these actions.

  • Recreate your custom pages in the Editor
If you have custom pages, you'll need to recreate them using the Editor. The current process for creating custom pages has been deprecated, and current custom pages won't carry over.

Recommended

  • Record your current Passport settings
The current dedicated Passport settings have been deprecated for Version 5, as settings are now consolidated between the portal and the app. You won't lose any functionality, but keeping a record of your current settings can help you ensure everything is running the way you'd like after the update.
  • Brief your front-of-house and community team
The new app is significantly different, so it's helpful if your team is familiar with the new experience before it's rolled out to customers.
  • Audit your materials
Make sure that any materials with Passport screenshots or descriptions of the old navigation are refreshed before the update. These can include welcome emails, onboarding decks, member handbooks, tour scripts, your website, and internal help content.
  • Let your customers know about the update
You may want to send your members an email to prepare them for the new app experience. A template is ready for you in the Passport Lounge.

What to do when your app has updated

  • Check that your settings have carried across against the record you made.
  • Test your access control system to ensure customers can access your space.
  • Test your custom pages to ensure they're displaying properly.
  • Check your default payment settings to define whether you want members to pay upfront or pay later for bookings, products, and event tickets.
  • Monitor your support queue for a few weeks after the release for customer questions about the new app experience.

Telling your members

We recommend sending a short message to your members to let them know:

  1. The app is getting a major update. Customers who have automatic updates turned on won't need to do anything. The app will automatically update once it reaches stores.
  2. Nothing in their account changes. Bookings, membership, and payment details all carry over.
  3. The app contains a new and improved experience. Customers get faster booking and payment, biometric sign-in, QR check-in, and a seamless experience between Members Portal 5 and the app.

A ready-made template is available in the Passport Lounge.
